What is Blogging?
On KSL's website, they posted a story that begs the question "What is Blogging?" I was immediately taken aback by this seeing as blogging really isn't that new. However, I guess there are enough people out there who are unfamiliar with modern technology and who honestly don't know what it means to blog. I read the story and watched the archived broadcast just to get a better feel for what they were discussing and I could understand where a "muggle" could be confused or even plainly ignorant to this relatively recent form of communication.
So, what is blogging to me? Well, having read a considerable number of blogs, it can be lots of things. Of course, blogging consists of the sex- and angst-charged rantings of pimply-faced teenagers (which is a common blog stereotype), but it also consists of honest business information and community involvement. I personally, use it for several things. Certainly, I rant and rave about things, but I also use it to show my interest in certain things, my political views on certain current events, and to communicate with friends and family. I am part of a community blog which is really more of a Web forum where people post funny stories, links to events and reviews of some of their latest findings. It's really kind of fun. It's sort of like MySpace, but without the ads for scantily clad fem-bots.
Anyhow, these be my thoughts on blogging. I think it's a very useful tool for people to communicate. I do think that sometimes there are certain people who should never be published, but hey, is there someone forcing us to read their stuff?
Take it easy, y'all.
