Cell Phone Standards
Okay, if you know me, you will know that I hate hate hate cell phones. I pretty much think that they are cheap imitations of real communication devices like the military uses. I mean, think about it. You use a cell phone and there are certain places where no matter how hard you try, you can't get a decent signal. So it seems that if you want to get decent service from a cell phone, you have to investigate which service provider gives the best coverage for your area, costs the least, and gives you the best customer support. Generally, I would say that does not include T-Mobile. Geez! I hate that company. Their service, as far as I have seen, bites hard. My wife's cell phone is a T-Mobile phone and every time she calls me or if I use the phone to call someone, it is always at least a little bit garbled. Most of the time, I have to ask her to repeat herself two or three times just so that I can understand what she's saying.
Solution to the problem: Standardize all cell phone communications by giving each phone a 50 megawatt transmitter. Yeah, you'd only have about 5 seconds of talk time without plugging in, but you'd be able to hear everything. In fact, it would obsolete those stupid towers that carry the cell phone calls (that obviously don't transmit with enough power either.)
Another possible solution: Turn all cell phones into satellite phones that work off the GPS satellites. I mean come on! Last time I checked, there were 53 specific GPS satellites in orbit and they cover a very good percentage of the earth's surface. Doing this would also drive the current cost of satellite phones way down.
Anyhow, yeah, I'm really irritated at cell phone providers because of their lack of decent service.
